Karen comes to our group with a wide spectrum of passions and experiences to share.  Her work as a professional paramedic and firefighter ignites her love for all things human. Her ability to connect and communicate with others in any circumstance is a gift that allows her to draw effortlessly out the story from everyone she meets.  With nearly 20 years in emergency services, Karen has seen people at all extremes of existence …birth, tragedy, joy, fear, death and peace…with this, she offers us an insight into the deep emotional layers of individuals and the unique situations of communities.  With an extensive medical background and years of teaching experience, Karen hopes to open up possibilities for collaboration in the fields of remote medicine, public health education, women’s health & wellness issues, and all things advocating for the health and safety of children and their communities.
